Masthead For My Student Magazine

My magazine is aimed at students, so that's one of the reasons I chose this masthead, because it represents school life, and its got a certain edge to it, that I think the students will like. Also the I in IStudent stands for information and this relates to students. It looks very different than any other masthead in a student magazine because it looks very informal and the typography is very different from any other student magazine because it looks like its been written by pencil. But it does look plain because the main colours are black and white. Also I would think the teachers would like it as well, because it looks very appealing.

The Main Image For My Student Magazine

I chose this photo because I think it is the best out of all the different photo's I took. This photograph shows a student standing in front of the different kinds of lesson's this school offers. This will appeal to the target audience who are sixth formers, because the lessons shes standing in front of are relevant to them.This is good because it demonstrates shes in a school environment. Also she is using props to suggest she is a student, the student id card she is wearing and she is wearing proffesional clothes which connote she is dedicated to school life, and this will dedicate students to be like her, and that she could be a possible role model for them. In addition to, the student looks as if shes enjoying school live and looks very happy which would show the audience, to have a positive attitude when in school because it motivates you to learn better.

Analysing My Answers For My Questionnaire

I done a quick questionnaire and handed it out to my target audience for the student magazine which was Sixth Formers. The results were very similar from each student,some people didn't even answer the important question's which was not good. On the other hand, some people actually was bothered and interested to answer the questions with thought. For example this one which was answered very well.

This was one of the most detailed out of the 11 that I questioned. Overall I think I got good feedback, and I now know what my audience want to see in the student magazine, and what they don't want to see. So this questionnaire was very helpful, also I used Microsoft word to create it and I printed copies to give to students

The Preliminary Task

The Preliminary Task: What is the project your working on? What are the key requirements? What are the time frames for the project? Who are your target audience? The project I'am working on is that I'am making an student magazine that is aimed at sixth formers only.I decided to aim the student magazine at sixth formers because I'm also in sixth form so I would know the type of things they would like and dislike in the magazine.The key requirements of the student magazine include a masthead,main image which has to be a medium shot of a student in sixth form, cover lines,skyline and an anchorage text. Also I have to make sure I'am following the conventions of a stereotypical magazine.I have to make a front cover that will be suitable and presentable for my target audience.Also I need to meet the specific deadline's, the research deadline will be Friday 26th October, however the production has to be done by Friday 23rd November and finally the evaluation will be done by Friday 14th December.

Media Studies Audit

I finished completing the Media Studies Audit, I found out my strengths and weakness's, this helped me a lot so I can improve on these weakness's in the future and also the strengths benefited me to know what I was good at it.My overall impression of my strengths is that personally I think i have designed magazines before, and I think I'm very good at it as I have been told because I have done and experienced Media Studies before in life, also I have read a lot of magazines in my spare time so this will help a lot when analysing different types magazines. I 'am also a good writer because of my experience of doing Media Studies in GCSE's also I have done and completed my English Language course in GCSE. I know that I can recognise the genre of various media texts because I have done it before.Those are some of my strengths that I have learned from my 'AS Media Studies Coursework Audit'.

On the other hand; i have some weakness's. Firstly I think im not experienced in taking digital photographs, also I don't really listen to the radio because I'm quite busy. I'm not very organised and cant keep a effective record of my work. I hopefully need to improve on that in the future. I also haven't created a website before but I would like to one day. Also I don't make my own music which is a shame because I'm interested in music. Hopefully I can do that one day, it would be a great experience. I will have to try my best to improve in some of my weakness's because it could help in the future life.
